The review would be a true 5 stars had COSTCO not failed in the installation. Please read on When it was time to replace our 14-year-old LG pair there was no question it was going to be an LG product. I was disappointed that most new LG dryers do not have the stainless-steel drum for cost reasons LG opted to use powder coating instead in my opinion a mistake. After doing some research we opted to purchase an offering from COSTCO item number 1404729 which included the WM4500HBA washer and the DLEX4500B dryer. This has a hybrid drum the back of the drum is powder coated and the rest is stainless steel. COSTCO delivered and installed the pair on January 10 2023. We had read instructions and features of both machines and we anxiously waited to try them out within the first several washes we noticed that everything we washed literally STUNK Boys and I blamed my wife did she changed detergent did she change softener did she add some additive?? Answer was no at this point we were extremely unhappy with our appliances the we noticed a water leak on the exterior wall next to the wash room. Our nightmare began I checked for leaks everywhere and found that the drain hose was overflowing with each use. I looked at the COSTCOs installation and found that the drain hose was shoved down the drain pipe up to 30 inches instead of routing the drain hose per instructions it was just bundled in a mess in the rear of the washer the provide cable ties were not used a scrap piece of electrical wire that I had in the garbage was used instead. The provided elbow bracket to install the drain hose to the drain was not used. I immediately called LG tech support very knowledgeable and helpful I explain the whole situation conclusion: the drain hose should not be shoved down as it was this will cause the machine to siphon sewer liquids into the machine she went on to say that this would explain the smell and o yea our whole family itching and breaking out in rashes. She explained the installation per the installation sheet provided I added an elbow bracket luckily I had the old one and limited the length of hose in the drain per LGs instructions. As far as the smell she suggested I run 2 to 3 clean cycles on the machine cycles to try to eliminate all sewer liquid from the washer I asked if that would get rid of all of it the answer was maybe so now I have a brand-new washer and dryer contaminated with sewer and I have the dirty drain water and sewer liquid that leaked into my wall. Will this cause mold in the future? I contacted COSTCO after a bunch of run-around being transfer to a half dozen people the conclusion by Tanya was that it was my fault you should have caught this issue immediately she suggested I contact LG and have them replace the dirty hose. This is a true shame I have been a loyal COSTCO member for over 30 years. Bottom line LOVE the WM4500 HBA machine I will replace these units one way or another with the same or other LG units even if I must buy another pair but I will not have my family using a machine that is contaminated with sewer feces.

Better than expected

We upgraded to a new LG washing machine when we moved into our new home. Wed had LG previously but our model was over ten years old. It never gave us a day of problems so it was an easy decision to stay with the same brand. We couldnt be more pleased with the WM4500HBA. Its incredibly easy to use and weve been working nonstop with it since moving into our new home. Were so happy to have the latest and greatest and we know from our previous model how dependable the brand is for long-term usage.

I bought the LG 4500 washer and dryer a couple of weeks ago. Everything went smoothly with CAS and the delivery. Now about my washer Everything works ok with one exception. At the end of the wash cycles different settings/options after the last spin is done my machine doesnt do the tumble cycle to help remove some wrinkles. I find all the clothes stacked against the tub wrinkled beyond belief. Cannot use the steam care cycle which would remove them as not all clothes are supposed to be exposed to high heat. Does the manufacturer think that all clothes go in the dryer to get rid of the wrinkles? I called LG yesterday talked to someone which promised to send me an email detailing ways to improve the wrinkles after washing them but so far I didnt receive it. I dont know if my machine is faulty or this is the way the program was done. Regardless I am very unhappy with this machine.

I have had this for a month and it works really good the only issue I had is when washing rugs when it finished the cycle they were still wet so I went to the spin cycle but it stopped after 2 min. Not sure if it was just out of balance. Other than that it has been working fine. Of course have to figure out what cycle to use for different things I wash learning curve for all of the features. Was looking at the dryer also but need the kit for propane. Not everybody installs it.

This is a great washereasily one of the market. However Im disappointed that it has already been discontinued. For those of us that have this unit Id like LG not to forget about us. Specifically Id like LG to afford us the same flexibility with our fabric softener dispenser that the newer units have. NO ONE USES FABRIC SOFTENER ANYMORE Accordingly Id like to be able to convert the fabric softener to a detergent descender. LG can you make this happen via the app? Several problems

I bought this washer recently thinking it would be an upgrade from my 2006 LG washer and it is definitely not. One of the most annoying problems is that when I wash comforters mattress pads or bath mats it gets stuck on the spin cycle for at least an hour. I washed the same items in my old washer and never once had that problem. Also the door sometimes takes several times to close and lock. And the old washer cleaned much better. Such a disappointment.

We purchased tis machine about a month ago and are rather disappointed with it. Disappointed to extent that today I am taking the set back to Costco for a refund. The clothes do not get cleaned properly and smells the usually are gone after a laundering are not gone. It seem that LG has in the effort to environmentally conscious become utterly bind to the reason we buy a washing machine to clean our clothes and to get red of smells in the clothing. The lack of water in the cleaning process is not being environmentally conscious it is being utterly blind to the fact that your product doesnt preform well.

I believe this machine cleans clothes better than any machine I have ever used. The ability for the machine to choose regularly how much soap to put in saves me money. I am not sure how long the motherboard will last or any of the components that are electronic. But I do clean the filter as well as the valves on the soap and softener dispensers. The cycles in the machine are perfect and you can download anything required. I love the light inside as well as the ability to use the machine from Wi-Fi or Google home.

Nearly an Excellent Washer

The is the third LG washing machine I have owned. The color description suggests it is a near black in color when it is really a dark gray. I love the bigger capacity. Selection options are good. Two things that could have been better is 1 the text is very difficult to read and should have stood out more 2 I dislike that you cannot pull out the soap dispenser out of the unit as all of them are fixed in place. Now I have to lift lower and balance the large heavy Costco liquid detergent to fill the dispenser. Both of these features make it difficult for older people. I think these are design misses.

Loud continual problems

We have had this front-loading washer for a little over 6 months and it has been nothing but problem after problem. The gasket shredded inexplicably and was replaced. Since then the machine has been EXTREMELY loud like a jet taking taking off with disconcerting knocking sounds that no one has been able to fix despite numerous service visits. Im certain from whatever is making the drum be so loud during spin cycle a hole got rubbed on the water hose inside and it started leaking from the bottom thankfully a slow leak that we found before it was catastrophic. Given the overall positive reviews on this machine Im sure we just got a dud but even with it still under warranty LG wont do anything about it because they claim its functioning normally. If this is normal I wont be buying another LG appliance in this lifetime. As far as general functionality its perplexing to me that you cant control it from your phone unless the machine is on. Why would I turn the machine on walk away and then pick the setting from my phone when its just as easy to do on the machine???? I just dont understand the purpose of the app at all...

Everything for an active family

Our first month put lots of small loads through and the turbo feature was a big help. Weekend larger loads were effortless - large loads no trouble. Since we are older we like the pedestal and the storage is handy and doors more accessible. We still havent explored all the features but before I forget the detergent reservoir is very user friendly.

My previous washing machine broke and I was in need of a quick replacement. I already knew I wanted an LG product given the brands reputation. I was thrilled this one was available along with the matching dryer. It has a much needed larger capacity. The settings are good to read though the dark gray color makes it abit more difficult.

So Many Great Features

Purchased this washer about 6 months ago. Our previous unit was showing signs of failing us. This is so much better than the other brand we had before. A MAJOR time-saving feature is the detergent and softener tanks. Our laundry area is on another floor so getting updates that your load has finished saves a lot of unnecessary steps up and down. Only 2 negatives the delivery and install crew were totally clueless and didnt have the proper equipment with them. And we started receiving letters telling us our warranty was expired and we should purchase a service contract when the unit was only a few months old. And it had been registered.

I have owned this washer for three weeks now and I am very pleased thus far. The incredible number of cycle choices makes washing the clothes so simple and effective. The clothes actually come out very clean and fullfy especially the towels once dried. It is highly energy efficient and all of the auto choices make sure there is no water or detergent waste. Highly recommended.

Decent Machine but not all the right features

So I like my washer. Ill start with that. Water does collect in the space up front but I leave the door open and it dries on its own. Every few months it gives me a message saying my water feeds are not connected properly but they are so I write that message off now. It has stayed connected to the wifi since day 1 cant say the same about the dryer. I dont use all the features and I dont feel like its got everything I need but the settings can for the most part be customized. We use normal and towels and bedding the most and I use sportswear on occasion. Those are the settings I prefer. I would like a sheets or linens setting. The bedding handles the comforters well and the machine capacity is great. I can put two full comforters in together and it washes them well. Overall happy. Unhappy that my warranty apparently expired on date of purchase instead of delivery. The company LG used for delivery last year had my machines for weeks before delivering. That seems a bit unfair. I also wanted to add quickly that the machine is so easy to use. Both of my kids ages 13 and 5 find the machines super easy to use and love to do their own laundry now. Well. Maybe not my 13 year old daughter but she does it anyway. And I dont have to worry about them using too much detergent because the machine dispenses the correct amount. And the machine looks good too

2nd set of LG washer/dryer

I am so happy to have this washer dryer. It has exceeded my expectations. The new feature of automatically measuring out detergent and softener for each wash is amazing. My initial response when reading about this feature was that it wasnt something I had to have. After using it the last 3 weeks I wouldnt want to be without it. The washing machine weighs the load and measures out the detetergent according to chosen cycle. I also like the choice in spin cycles. Dryer does an excellent job and doesnt seem to overdry clothes So many dry cycle choices help with delicate clothes. This is my 2nd LG w/d pair we moved and I had to sell my older set and I couldnt be happier.

Great washer but ours is defective

The good: Its massive size fits pretty much anything. It generally washes quicker than our previous one did. Love the soap dispenser that automatically inputs the necessary amount of soap each time. The bad: Ours leaks inside the unit. its been repaired twice and still has the issue. It just slowly fills up with water.
